Circular economy

The ZIMMERMANN Group's business is characterized by recycling cycles in accordance with the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG) and is the key to greater sustainability by recycling materials and resources and using them more efficiently.

Presentation of the circular economy

Sustainable circular economy at the ZIMMERMANN Group

The environmentally friendly disposal, recycling and treatment of hazardous waste is at the heart of our group of companies.

Circular economy according to KrWG is our daily business

As the Zimmermann Group, we are actively committed to sustainable recycling management in accordance with the KrWG. Our daily activities are based on innovative disposal solutions for the environmentally friendly disposal and recycling of hazardous waste.

Our holistic approach

We consider the entire life cycle of products and materials and place particular emphasis on recycling and reuse. By promoting these practices, we reduce our environmental impact and conserve important resources at the same time.

Technological innovations

By continuously investing in modern technologies and in the analysis of waste samples by our environmental laboratories and the accredited testing laboratory of the ZIMMERMANN Group, we strengthen the circular economy and actively contribute to environmental protection.

Sustainable disposal is not possible without analytics

Only through specific declaration analysis and the latest state of our treatment plants and processing facilities can we carry out proper, professional and efficient disposal in our companies.

Our commitment to a sustainable future

As the ZIMMERMANN Group, we set standards in the industry by combining economic success with ecological responsibility. Our clear commitment to sustainability and environmental protection shows that such an approach is not only possible, but also extremely important for a future worth living.

Specific examples of the ZIMMERMANN Group's circular economy

THE GREEN CIRCUIT FOR WASTE GREASE

Waste grease is a valuable raw material and in East Westphalia it is recycled sustainably

Our grease separator service takes the waste grease to biogas plants for thermal utilization after it has been emptied in the catering and other food processing industries. This innovative approach makes it possible to utilize the energy from the waste grease . One particularly noteworthy example is the use of this recovered energy in potato processing production at the Pahmeyer company in Werther:

The energy that comes from the thermal utilization of the used fat is used to power the production of potato products, such as potato pancakes. These new products are then sold again in the retail and catering sectors. This creates a cycle that extends from the disposal of waste fat to energy generation, potato production and marketing.

Circular economy, sustainability and grease separator vehicle Zimmermann Group

This interaction shows how the Zimmermann Group implements the circular economy to perfection in cooperation with Pahmeyer. Not only is hazardous waste, such as waste grease, disposed of sensibly, but a sustainable cycle is also created that optimizes the use of resources and even sustainably supports the production of food. This holistic approach makes it clear how companies can make a positive contribution to the environment through innovative solutions.

RCN CHEMISTRY has developed a very special recycling cycle in cooperation with the European refrigerator recyclers for insulating foam.

This special waste treatment of the ozone-depleting refrigerant mixture results in a product that Europe's leading manufacturer of sandwich panels can use directly in the production of new products.

With this process, ZIMMERMANN RCN CHEMIE is the only company in Europe that recycles this waste from old refrigerators and thus takes a sustainable and responsible approach to disposal.

Over the past 25 years, RCN Chemistry has accepted waste from around 50 million refrigerators, thus making a significant contribution to protecting the ozone layer.

This green cycle symbolizes the cyclopentane recycling that is obtained from old refrigerators by RCN Chemistry

1. Old refrigerator is dismantled into individual parts and shredded

2. Liquid mixture is filled into a pressure drum of the RCN

3. Distillation and separation between CFC and solvent

4. Recycled cyclopentane is produced

5. Cyclopentane is used for the new production of sandwich panels

RCN Chemistry, as part of the ZIMMERMANN Group, sets further examples for the circular economy

Secondary raw materials are fed back into the material cycle using various distillation processes. Instead of relying exclusively on new products, RCN Chemie uses recyclates - i.e. recycled materials.

This approach is a clear step towards sustainability and environmental protection. By manufacturing products from recycled raw materials, RCN Chemistry actively contributes to reducing the consumption of natural resources and avoiding waste. This cycle of recycled materials instead of purely new products is an efficiency gain for the environment and demonstrates the Zimmermann Group's progressive approach.

In our chemical-physical treatment plants, the most important resource recycled

The Zimmermann Group's chemical-physical plants are another outstanding example of sustainable recycling management. By treating liquid waste in the CP plants, a rate of over 75% recycled water is achieved. This recycled water is then fed back into the cycle.

Water is one of the most important resources on our planet, and we at the Zimmermann Group are committed to protecting this precious resource efficiently every day.

Treatment in our chemical-physical plants makes it possible to process liquid waste in such a way that a large proportion of the water is recycled.

With a recycling rate of 75% recycled water, we make a significant contribution to the sustainable use of water resources.

The reuse and recycling of water not only reduces the amount of waste, but also protects the environment and reduces overall water consumption. This commitment to an efficient water cycle reflects the Zimmermann Group's comprehensive environmental awareness and responsibility for the future of our planet.
