Accredited laboratory for waste, soil, and water analysis

Analytical tests provide a reliable basis for the classification of waste and the selection of appropriate treatment and disposal methods. The accredited testing laboratory of Zimmermann Sonderabfallentsorgung und Verwertung GmbH & Co. KG at its Gütersloh site is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. The accreditation applies to the testing and sampling procedures listed in the respective annexes to the certificates.

Analysis as the Basis for the Disposal Path

The material composition and relevant properties of a waste stream influence its classification as well as the available treatment and treatment options. Based on the test results from our accredited testing laboratory, we help ensure that waste is properly classified and that a suitable disposal method is determined.

The accredited testing laboratory offers a range of analytical methods, including X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF), ICP-OES, and GC-MS. In addition, we can determine the flash point of waste materials. The specific methods used in each case depend on the sample, the research question, and the applicable scope of accreditation.

Analytical Methods and Sample Preparation

Qualitative analysis is used to identify the components of a sample. Quantitative analysis determines the amounts or concentrations of selected components. Depending on the purpose of the analysis, different analytical and separation methods are used.

Even the sampling, preservation, and sample preparation stages can affect the validity of a result. For this reason, these steps are planned and documented in accordance with the respective method and the requirements applicable to the test order.

Basis for treatment and treatment

The analysis results serve as a technical basis for evaluating potential treatment and disposal options. In this process, the identified material properties, legal requirements, and the acceptance criteria of the intended facility are taken into account.

Through the testing laboratory’s collaboration with the ZIMMERMANN Group’s treatment facilities and environmental laboratories, laboratory findings and facility-specific requirements can be coordinated. This makes it possible to determine an appropriate approach for each waste stream, such as chemical-physical treatment or conditioning in a solid waste treatment facility.
