works at ZIMMERMANN Treatment North in Liebenau:
I am Katharina Benke, 25 years old and have been working at the chemical-physical plant (CP plant) in Liebenau since 2021. I got to know the ZIMMERMANN Group through an introduction during my training as an environmental technology assistant and then decided to complete the internships of my training here.
After completing my internships and passing my training, I was then allowed to take up a position in the CP plant as a chemical-technical specialist. In 2023, I was appointed deputy team leader and at the beginning of 2024, I obtained my training certificate.
My tasks include the treatment of liquid hazardous waste that is delivered to us daily in trucks or IBCs. The aim here is to recycle the water in this waste. This includes monitoring the reaction area and the tank farm, setting up and converting filters and pipes and operating a forklift truck or hook trailer. Thanks to my training certificate, I am also responsible for training our apprentices in my area.
What I enjoy most about my work is that it never gets boring, waste is never quite the same and so no two days are the same. I'm a person who can't sit still and always wants to lend a hand - that's exactly what this job offers me. I also know what an important contribution I make to environmental protection with my work - that motivates me again and again.
What I really appreciate about ZIMMERMANN is our cooperation - whether as a team, across teams or across locations. I have also never been hindered in my desire to progress. In fact, I am very much encouraged to further my education and to think outside the box. You won't find stereotypes such as "male professions" or "the typical career maker" here - each person is considered individually and so are their opportunities at Zimmermann.
