works at ZIMMERMANN Engineering in Gütersloh:
My name is Martin Bischop (58 years old) and I am a process engineer. Before joining ZIMMERMANN, I operated a chemical-physical waste and wastewater treatment plant in various functions for 24 years. During this time, I was not only involved with the chemistry and technology of a CP plant, but also dealt intensively with environmental law standards, especially as I wrote many permit applications and notifications in accordance with water law and the Federal Immission Control Act.
After a conversation with Mr. Gerhard Zimmermann - one of our managing partners - I decided to make a career change at the end of 2017 and joined ZIMMERMANN Engineering GmbH & Co. KG as a senior project engineer. I very quickly realized that my professional experience from 24 years (as of 2018) in waste disposal and treatment, plant planning and communication with authorities would be very helpful in my new job at ZIMMERMANN.
Today, I am an authorized signatory of ZIMMERMANN Engineering and am responsible for a team of 15 people, which is divided into the areas of classic engineering, research and development, central workshop, sustainability and environmental/occupational safety management.
The job at ZIMMERMANN Engineering is very varied, and it never gets boring. We look after numerous ZIMMERMANN Group sites when it comes to plant expansions, modernizations, new buildings, permit applications, official inspections, expert inspections, the Provision of company representatives , etc.
ZIMMERMANN is a family-run company and the owner family maintains very close contact with its employees. It's not unusual for a "Zimmermann" to come into my office and ask me how I'm doing, what projects I'm currently working on, whether there are any problems and what's going well. These are often conversations of just 5 to 15 minutes, but they give me the good feeling that I have a name and a face at ZIMMERMANN and that people are interested in my work. That's a great appreciation that can't be taken for granted.
The ZIMMERMANN Group has grown considerably in recent years and we have taken on many young people. With 31 years of professional experience, I am now one of the older employees and I am pleased that I can pass on much of what I have learned and done over the years to the younger generation, because the young people of today are the experienced employees of tomorrow who will continue to develop the ZIMMERMANN company in the future.
Finally, I would also like to emphasize the cross-departmental cooperation. Everyone covers certain specialist areas and we complement each other very well. This strengthens the "sense of unity" within the workforce and is a key characteristic of ZIMMERMANN.
